I'll chime in fully once i get the vehicle here, I have not gone and picked it up yet. Price point was important to me and i got what i could get cheaply, If you include what folks on here have quoted as the cost of adding the tow package( none up here had it, and i had them include it in negotiations) I got my metris for a little over 25% off msrp, for a 2018.

The one i ultimately purchased did not have the driver comfort pack, or passenger comfort pack. The only options it has are the auto doors, stop start, and the fancy steering wheel and gauge pack, cloth seats. I did not want to pay for those things either, but i got them.
For 25% off MSRP you can live with a few compromises. I thought I did well!!! Nice work getting your due.

OH, also maybe it is just me, but if cluster B's lying through their teeth, and their general manipulation tact trigger ptsd and launch you into complete berserk, polarized, fight or flight mode, go prepared with some pot or by doing some heavy meditation before going anywhere near the finance office, especially if you have a 3 year old with you and no sleep.

I should add though, the rest of my experience at the benz dealer was great, 5 star so far, other than the woman in the finance office.

...and since this is the internet, and needs tone setting, I should note that i am exaggerating a little. ...just a little.
Heh, I'm pretty lucky, my credit union has an Auto Services division - they have a relationship with all of the local dealerships. I chose the vehicle I wanted, they purchased it for a cash price several thousand below what I could have negotiated, and they took care of all of the paperwork. The signing process involved several moments of the agent saying "This is one of those things the dealerships spring on you to bump up the price - we'll just zero that out" - utterly painless.

I have a similar option pack. Mine is a "Worker" model that had extras tacked on, all I have beyond base worker is the "appearance pack" so it has metallic paint, painted bumpers and nicer wheels, power sliding doors, and the upgraded steering wheel controls/screen/cruise. Plus technically the liftgate in back is an upgrade. Thats about it, don't even have the LED interior lighting, just the basic 3 incandescent lights. And its perfectly fine! All this complaining about the display on the Audio 15....prior to the metris I had never even owned a vehicle with a "video" capable display!

I would have went for the $70 option leatherette, Instead of cloth for easy cleanup when necessary. And no fear of stains. Anyways, congrats on your purchase and Yes, I do realize that $70 leatherette would have really cost you $3000 as you would have had to go with the other van.

A pity they don't include the two seater van. They are referred to as "seat covers" so I'm guessing they are not re-upholstering but making fitted slip-ons, correct?

Let’s call a spade a spade- it’s vinyl. And it’s what you want.
MBTex is the official Term. Its no ordinary vinyl! The MBTex seats in our vehicles that were 25+ years old was still PERFECT. It pretty much never wears out.

I found the finance part of my purchase easy. They didn’t throw any crap my way- I actually had to bring up that I wanted the ELW even.
Yea, I think it is an issues with the particular individual i dealt with, honestly 5 stars for the rest of the experience so far. I was sorta serious about the ptsd, so it is probably at least half me. Red flags were going off for me all over the place with the finance woman, far too many similarities to a few family members of mine that are to put it nicely, manipulative and dishonest at baseline.

Glad to hear those sorts of folks are not universally filling out that role at dealers lol.

The leatherette was super nice, I did think about it... Hopefully the cloth is hard wearing, it may hold up as well as the vinyl, but it sure wont clean up as easy. As a perk, I do like the look and feel of the cloth. After trying both, if i were to hand select one i would go vinyl.

In my old volvos the cloth alway holds up better than vinyl, but the benz stuff in these is super thick and really nice...

I hope mine does not have the led interior lighting, as they are very hard on my eyes... I am glad it has the "shitty headlights" too.
Yea, i have never owned anything half as nice as this honestly, well i mean sortof, my 80 series land cruiser is nice, but not hi tec.

Pretty excited.

I haven't seen where they are called covers. On the Roadwire site for the Metris product it states:

These are not slip-on seat covers, but rather they are designed to replace the existing factory cloth or leather seat covers in your car.
I'd imagine they would sell you the front seat kit if you called them.

You should be excited. It may not be a cult classic yet like the VW Bus and Eurovan, but it is a pretty darn fine vehicle. I always appreciated MB, but outside of a '91 190 for my sons (gorgeous car, white, chrome wheels, gray skirt, slow, crash worthy), I've never dabbled. Honestly, it had a lot to do with not wanting a "symbol in my driveway" to quote Jack Johnson, especially when I hailed from Palo Alto. But the van is a working vehicle. It's cheap, efficient and utilitarian. It's not overly Teutonic, but you can easily guess where it's from, even though it's built in Spain. Did I say it was cheap? I think it is a value proposition like my old Eurovan, so I grabbed one.

The Costco/roadwire page lists them as covers right next to the price. I see the difference on Roadwire's home page plus $400 more. A great deal either way.

You saw the quote I had above right? That's from roadwire. They are mixing terms so I'm not sure I'd get hung up on the word "cover". Call em up.

I think it's a good value for anyone moving from cloth. Not sure it's that much of a lift from the pleather...

Alright, I love this van so far aside from noise. There has got to be a difference between the driver comfort, and maybe passenger comfort pack vans and the non, in terms of sound deadening. You folks with the driver comfort, do you have any sound deadening on the drivers roof panel? Mine has nothing, none, tapping on it is super loud. I get a lot of drone and engine vibration especially at idle and part throttle, and road vibe, and i think a lot of it is projected from that roof panel. I will be pulling the interior and dynomatting. The fenders and the driver roof panel are the only things that ring, and they ring well. The rear hatch is a little loud, as is the rest of the roof, but the doors, quarter panels, and floors seem pretty ok.

Other than noise i love it. I know the MPG stated is optomistic, but i still bet i am getting pretty good mpg. Though the small towns, very winding and very hilly sections on the way to my wifes work and back i got just under 28 babying it, and 26 something driving normal with my foot mostly out of it aside from pulling out in traffic a little hard. Handling is great, I feel like i am in a civic hatch, not a van. Turning radius is great!

If you are shopping for one of these, tap on the panels, especially that one right over the drivers and co drivers head.

I don't even have an interior in the back of cargo and it's quiet and smooth. No engine vibration at all. Just the normal Direct injection tick. Maybe your tires need balanced or you should have upped another $3000 and went with the first one. I wonder if it's too late to exchange? Buyers remorse!:D

I think road noise is really based on what you have a history of driving and what you are comparing it to. My ML350 was a touch quieter inside; every other vehicle I’ve owned has been noisier than the Metris.

Of course almost all of them were old school IDI diesels. I think my CAT 3126 was direct injected, but that thing was so loud I didn’t even bother fixing the broken radio.
