I, too, had all 5 of my tires & the sticker replaced a few weeks ago. No hassle! They service writer didn't even talk about alignment, which I do not feel is necessary to be done on my 2017 now as the wear on the Michelin Defender XLs, with about 55,000 miles on them, was very even -- I have rotated the tires every 5,000 miles or so. I am pleased that this recall happened now, as I most likely would have been needing to replace the Michelins in about 5,000 or 10,000 miles. This saved my a bunch of $$$$$$!
I have a 2016 Metris covered by recall. Dealer in Oregon says I only get a sticker because the van weighs 6,724 lbs. and my tire load is 1929/tire. Is this accurate? MBUSA said they have no tire load info and that I have I have to ask the local dealer who will determine if I should get tires. ??

What tires are on the van?

Well the tires are toast after only 10,000 miles. I was hoping that someone on this forum knows what the acceptable tire load is so I know if I should file a complain or not with safety board. It seems like there should be a published number.

Tire wear in your situation is not about the load number.

If you read the threads you find the tire specs.

Yikes. The recall applies to 2016-2018 vans, I think.
I have a 2018 cargo van camper conversion. I recently went in for the 40,000 maintenance which is extensive. They mentioned a tire recall, and I said I had no problems with the tires. They said they would look into it. Finally, they replaced five tires at no charge. The new tires are 235/55 R17 103 H M/S reinforced. This includes all the mount balance and alignment. Very nice.

I had the tire recall done and they put 4 Continental 235/55R17 tires on and changed the spare as well. But! The spare is now a Goodyear tire (with a 104h rating). It's a directional tire which means that I should theoretically remount it if I want to put in the left side of the vehicle. The dealer is essentially telling me that the spare is supposed to be a different tire. They also put a sticker on it that says 50mph max which seems silly since it's a full size regular rim and a regular heavy duty tire.

I also got an alignment done at the dealer and I think I'm back into the confusing world of alignments. My previous "good" alignment has almost zero toe in on the front and the front tires finally wore reasonably and the van handled well. But this new alignment has 0.47 degrees of toe in on the front. I'm concerned this alignment is just going to eat those outside edges again. It also has very tight pull to the center of the lane. So much so that long sweeping curves are a bit awkward to steer through.

Lastly, I have a couple hundred miles on the new tires and just got a warning on the dash that the pressure is low on one tire. Seems I have a slow leak.

I would not be concerned with the directional spare. It is a “spare” for “emergencies”. I do not think it will matter. Just something black and round to get you to a repair facility. As far as the leak. I would take it back. We had one with a valve stem that was leaking. They replaced it with no questions asked. It was weird, the tire only seemed to leak at highway speeds during road trip. In town it did not loose any air. Weird I know, but it did.

Well, the problem is that if you have non-directional tires, having an identical spare provides for easy 5-tire rotations, which is a logical thing to do because you don't want your spare to age-out. You can do it in your driveway with a single jack. Pull out spare, rotate it to the back passenger, put the back passenger on the front driver, put the front driver on the rear driver, put the rear driver on the front passenger, put the front passenger in the spare carrier. Rinse and repeat every 5000 miles.

I received my recall Continental tires recently and they drive very nicely. While I was refitting a 7-pin trailer wire harness yesterday I had to drop the spare and noticed a few things that were off. First the spare had been hoisted with the holder misaligned and funny enough my spare wheel tire hoist ratchet tool has the stickers "up/down" switched, so for the first movements I actually tightened the line, which scarily enough made the spare wheel instantly fall to the ground! Imagined if the spare wheel fell down while driving, and what kind of an accident it could cause.

Aside from this they had also only attached the spare wheel hoist rubber plug halfway, so they were truly careless.

As I rolled the spare wheel aside, I noticed a chunk of thread being loose and broken apart. I took some photos and intend on taking it back to the dealership.

I encourage everyone to look under and inspect the dealership fastened the spare wheel correctly.

FYI: the spare tire the dealership installed is a Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons Cargo tire in size 225/55R17C. The load rating is 109/107H and manufacturer date 4424 made in Turkey.

I found the following thread relating to these tires breaking up, but do not know if it is related. Obviously my spare hasn't seen any wear as it's never been used.

Also, I don't know if the plastic spare wheel tool "sled" is still and always used. I don't have it in my car and likely never have. It wasn't there before the tire recall, so I can't blame the dealership for loosing it. I found out about it in the following great instructional video:

Below are some photos:

This shows the misaligned mount the dealership attached. Notice how it is not centered, and on one side is barely hanging.

My spare wheel hoist ratchet green stickers displayed up/down opposite and when I went to lower, I instead put tension on the wire and the tire fell down to the ground. This could have happened as well with a bump in the road.

When reattaching I made sure the attachment point was centered before hosting up all the way. Still wondering if I am missing the plastic protector sled... (not dealers fault but as I purchased my 2019)

They're all like that. The label is for operation of the jack, which doesn't seem to need a label nearly as much as the tire hoist does.

Ah! That makes sense. I will learn to not take things literally when hoisting/lifting in the future. Thanks for that tidbit of knowledge @Gottlieb !

Do you happen to know whether or not the plastic protector sled is still recommended? If so, I will order one to put in.

My cargo 135 didn't come with a plastic tray. Recall spare looks sound -- Thanks!!

Good to know! I noticed this a long time ago and replaced the sticker with masking tape and sharpie arrow the correct direction so someone else wouldn't strip out the spare tire holder. I just thought it was some manufacturing error.

I took my 2016 Metris cargo van (converted to a pop top camper van) in for a yearly Service A, and I came out of there with a brand new set of Continental VanContact A/S tires! And even a new Goodyear spare! All 100% free on a recall! They even threw in an alignment for free! I don't know what model years the recall affects, but check with your dealership: you just may eligible for a new set of tires!
Cheers,
Wrenchester

Thanks for all of this useful information! New metris owner here 16' passenger. I currently have Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 225/55r17 101H with "extra load" also on the tire. Max load of 1819 lbs per tire. Anyone know if these would get replaced under the recall? My VIN has it still listed as open. Got a nice size gash on the sidewall and would like to get them replaced! Thanks for any insight.

Also, i've got the ABS/ESC light coming on. I've read about the wheel speed sensor issue, i'd assume i should start there?
