The thing to look out for when using insurance towing is that it can in some cases be considered an insurance claim and then work against you on your rates. Not always, but it can.

I have the top tier of AAA.

AAA plus is up to 100 miles (we have it, because the default is 5 miles ...), AAA Premier is up to 200 miles.

I would subscribe to AAA and/or Good Sam, and depend on them before ever calling the insurance.

I think the upgraded 100 mile AAA is good enough, so long as you are aware AAA is basically a front as an auto industry lobby. Whether that bugs you is your affair. There are not all that many places where you would be more than a hundred miles from a Mercedes competent mechanic, I wouldn’t think. Note: this is not neccsarily a dealer or van-oriented.

I’ve had Good Sam and USAA. I found that USAA responded much faster than Good Sam when needed. However, if i considered my Metris to be an RV, Good Sam might be a better choice, that might require them to tow you to a Metris/Sprinter repair place.

We’re traveling across country in a couple of weeks.I have AAA, but has anyone used Good Sam Clubs’ premium unlimited Towing? Or been stranded in the middle of nowhere?
Upstate New York doesn't have "aaa" so submit the tow bill for reimbursement make sure you call for a tow with the premium membership! I look forward to getting lost in the middle of nowhere that's what camping is all about....
