Hi. I'm about to pull the trigger on a new Metris passenger van, but before I do: has anyone here towed with their Metris? The towing numbers suggest that it could handle my small travel trailer, but has anyone tried towing 3500-4000 lbs with this thing? How does it handle such a load? Thanks so much!

I haven't towed with the car, but it is rated at 4960 lbs, so I can't imagine having a problem with it in that regard. It really is quite peppy without a load, so I'd imagine its towing ability would be pretty adequate.
On average I see people with vehicles like ours towing small trailers and such, so for those it will be great, just don't know about anything more.

Long into the future some people might use it for hauling scrap metal, which can put a good load on it.

Searched the forum and found this - anyone have any newer feedback on towing? I have an '05 Sprinter passenger van - short/short, that has just over 200k on it. Bought it new. I still like it, and it's in great shape, but I'd really like something quieter. I'm ready to have a vehicle that I can have a conversation in at highway speeds, and that's tough in the Sprinter. I've even added soundproofing materials. A better ride would be nice, too. My wife has some neck problems, and sitting up high in the Sprinter on top of a hard suspension whips things around sometimes. Anyway, the Metris sounds like it might be a good alternative. Besides needing to be able to carry the occasional pallet or crate for our business, and motorcycles for fun, we need to tow a travel trailer that weighs 3500-4000#.. The Sprinter has done that for about 20k of the miles we've put on it - it's adequate. 16-17 mpg towing, and not alot of reserve power. Anyone done any towing?

Id think it would work. However, the newer Sprinter 2.1 model is much much more refined than the first gen with the 2.7.

Actually, I'd say the Sprinter in cargo form with a partition is about as quiet as my Metris. I don't know the pax version.

I am planning to tow a race car with my aluminum trailer with the Metris Cargo van. The total weight is about 3500lbs as well, with some tires/tools to haul inside of the van. I have not seen any reviews or comments on how well the metric handling towing, in terms of passing power/stability/fuel economy/handling. if anyone has towed with their Metris please chime in and comment about it. Thanks!

So, my 2016 3300mi metris did not come with trailer wiring.

Had pickemup truck install one, they talked to mercedes (he says) and wired it per...

Car died electronically...actually wouldnt start or turnover...roadside looked at batt, turned the key/ignition a few more times when, it started.....with a check engine symbol...had it towed to dealer who tell me "they" (pikemup truck) screwed up the wiring....

UT OH??

There's probably 4 towing threads going. One member here who seems to regularly tow but rarely visits. Some others on the "actual towing" thread. Myself, I plan on loading up for a test tow in the next few weeks to get everything in the right place.

Any idea how they wired the trailer from pickemup? Far as I can tell it's just a control box hiding by the passenger brake light (plus the stability programming if it comes from the factory).

As I mentioned before, I regularly use a utility trailer and the only things I have noticed is that I might get a light error on the dash if the trailer connector is not firmly seated in the receptacle and the blind spot assist does not function with a trailer connected.(which is normal). I do have the factory install.
