Thoughts before I pull the trigger on a 2022 Metris

950 Views 40 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Tree95
I can buy a brand new 2022 Metris for $4,000 under MSRP (MSRP $46K on special for $42K).

Any thoughts on whether I should buy it or buy a 2023 model and pay full MSRP (+ price increases, basically $50K).

Any new tech or goodies to justify the $8K difference? Thanks for your input.

Zero difference. But the 2022. It's rare to see them under MSRP

Work a 140k ELW into the deal!

Extended warranty. A 7 year 140k mile ELW is the most you can buy.

I'd buy the van. I saw a '22 Cargo 135 for cheap at the dealer, and I gave it serious thought given we're in the terminal year for US Metris'.

I bought the 7/120 ELW back in 2018. It's a must, IMHO. Look for up to 20% off retail as you can buy it from any dealer, I believe up until your factory warranty expires. I think mine listed for around $3,600 and I paid closer to 3k, I also got them to throw in the first A & B services (which had been part of a recently expired promotion, but they owed me as it took 11-1/2 months for my van to arrive after ordering it.)

I'd also look at the prepaid service if I were buying now.

Have fun!

Thank you for your reply. I contacted the dealer and instead of giving me 20% off retail (the MB build your own) price, they want to upcharge me 24%. Can you point me to a dealer that will discount the warranty and prepaid services? Thanks...AB
Are you talking about the warranty price only?
Yes, warranty and service as advised by you.
I think MB is getting a little crazy on the Metris pricing. Might as well buy a diesel sprinter. Unless it's just too big.

@jimiray recently bought a warranty and had a similar experience. Everyone wanted to charge over list. He might be able to share his research. I can't explain it. Could be dealers make all their money on the warranty now.

I personally didn't mention prepaid service. That said it can be useful when financing, but maybe more so when rates were lower. Still something to think about.

Whatever you can do to get a fair deal with the van pricing and ELW is worth it. Not going to assume you will get the best or any discount, but I do think it's important to get the 7/140k on the last US model year.

I would love too, but my last build got destroyed by unwelcomed thugs. The metris fits in my garage and its about 1/2 the price. I just signed $4,500 under MSRP for a 2022.

This hasn't been my experience. I've personally had offers at list for new vans in the last couple months.
I am very excited to do a truly stealth Metris. I built a RAM Promaster 159 high roof, and now I am going to build this beautiful Metris. I will do a build thread for the community. Here is my Promaster build.

this one will be smaller. I will miss standing up in it, but it will be stealthier and will fit in any garage.

Are the Sprinters still selling for over MSRP?

Very nice. I like that you can stand up in it. Are you doing a pop-top on the Metris?

Don't know yet, but if I could have changed one thing in my Promaster build was add AC, this one will definitely have it, especially since now batteries cost < $100/100AH, vs $350/100AH 2 years ago. A $1200/1200AH battery will run a Dometic RTX2000 for 15 hours or more and I (you) will sleep like a mummy in the summer. Sorry, I got off topic.

No, Sprinters are still (and will always be) the GOLD standard, at MSRP+. But, if you live in a $hi!t place like Dallas, like me, where the homeless over-run parked vans and vehicles with zero repercussions, you may get a small discount on one. Me personally, I want to garage my van, I am done with the thugs and all I want is a peaceful van life. Stay tuned for my Metris build, I am excited...AB

I'm not following your conversation. Seems you are moving the goal posts.
