Which type of doors would you prefer on Metris Passanger.
Rear Tailgate or 180 Degree Rear Doors?

Tailgate. Hands down.

If they offered 270s I would take them, but the 180s are silly. The tailgate protects you in the rain, and the camera is protected on the tailgate.
180s.

I've had tailgates in every car I've bought over my entire life (except for the Metris I've ordered) and I'm tired of hitting my head on tailgates. Tailgates also have limited openings when you have a long two person kayak on the roof rack.

But if you're more coordinated than I am (most people are) and don't carry boats on your roof, the tailgate probably makes more sense.
tailgates if you are buying it for your family. So helpful with groceries when its raining...
180s.

You'd have to be pretty tall for that on the Metris. The tailgate opens up to about 78" (two canes high, my cane being 39") clearance. And given the length of the roof rack you might be able to avoid the Kayak problem, too.
i prefer the 180 doors. The 1 piece lift gate feels like i'm at the gym doing pull downs every time I close the door.
I notice the read door tailgate can't be open by any button inside the car which is all common in all economic car/vans.
The rear door is manual open only that doesn't support the electrical open/close option.
Ha Robbi,

That's what I hope and request from my dealer. I even send him the same picture.
But MB didn't offer the option to separately open the window from the door.
The most critical issue is the manual door opener. The rear tailgate door can't be electronically open/close by any button.

Wish someone / company can modify that.

I'm thinking it might not be worth it for some aftermarket company/shop to do it, but if these sell in good numbers and there's enough demand for this, it could happen on a small scale.
That's apparently an option for the V class. When I get free, I'll check the parts diagram on it (I have the front end, engine and trans out of a CLA, I'll be busy)
