Hi, a buddy and I have been kicking around ideas for a small get together.

The last time we had one it was closer to my area (Livermore, CA) so this time we are thinking closer to his area (Petaluma / Santa Rosa, CA)

Still pulling ideas together.

Target location = Petaluma / Santa Rosa CA area. Actually need to find a place that will let us use their parking lot, such as a restaurant, hotel or mall area.

Target date = Late April / Early May probably a Saturday, so either April 27 or May 04 - tending toward April 27 right now.

Target time = late morning - late afternoon.

Probably there will be Sprinters, Transits, Promasters, Metris, and maybe even some GM or VW. Probably will also see some derivative vehicles that are based on the chassis.

These gathering tend to be tilted toward conversion vans and people showing what they are thinking about doing or have done.

They range from very simple to very substantial conversions.

Very informal. There is no security guard to turn anyone away.

Food and drinks - Bring your own.

This isn't really intended to be a camp out - just some friendly curious people hanging out and sharing their hobby / interest.

Feel free to make suggestions of possible locations that could be used but one person suggested Graton Casino (not personally sure about this) and another suggestion was Healdsburg Vetrans Memorial Beach Park.

I will update the this thread as it comes together.

Feel free to make suggestions or comments of your interest.

I'll keep an eye on this one, I'm in west Sonoma County & work in Santa Rosa. Mine's a work-van, not a conversion, but I'd be interested in seeing what people have done with their vans.

All contingent on whether I have a gig at the same time of course.

Updated Summary:

Sunday, April 28, 2019
11 am - 6 pm

Friedman's Hardware store in Petaluma parking lot

Friedmam's is at 429 North McDowell.

The shopping center is called Deer Creek Village.

The parking lot is at the North East corner of the shopping center at the corner of North Mcdowell and Rainier.

There are restaurants nearby or feel free to bring your own food and drinks.

Expect to see a mixture of vehicle brands and types.

It is open for anyone curious or enthusiastic about van conversions.

Nothing commercial - just a friendly gathering.

That doesn't mean that you cannot bring along something that you build for the van market. For instance my van is setup for auxiliary power demos.

I am guessing about 20 vehicles but perhaps 50% will be there all of the time.

I will try to remember to post some photos here and on my instagram / wirlnet site.

Frankly I am terrible with posting photos on web sites, so if anyone else is good at it maybe they can guide me?

Thanks

I loaded 3 electrical systems into my van for show and tell.

1x1 - similar to the unit used at sprinter snail's camping event last year.

1x3 - similar electronics, but 3 x the battery capacity

2x4 - Double the inverter, and of course more battery capacity.

Might soon need a bigger vehicle. :surprise:

The invitation is posted on forums for sprinter, transit, promaster and this metris forum.

There are around 30 vehicles coming, 11 - 6. Some will be there through the whole thing, some just for stopping by.

I will send you a pm with my contact info in case you need it.

Roughly 30 vans and enthusiast were at the gathering.

A mix of sprinter, transit, promaster and even a few misc (me)

Unfortunately didn't see anyone with a Metris.

Virtually all were DIY projects - varying from very simple to very complex.

Even the "simple vans" had some very creative ways to optimize space and extend out, especially a small short promaster project.
