Except nobody knows when the parts will be available...same with the gas recall fix and the rear view camera recall. I am looking at three recall letters in front of me and all say "Unfortunately, the parts to remedy this issue are currently not yet available." My van will be into the dealer next month for my annual pre paid maintenance and will ask them if they have any updates on the three recalls.

I spoke to my dealer service writer (pays to use the same one). I told him I wanted the reservoir replaced too. He's checking availability, I assume on the retaining pin, but he said they would replace the reservoir too. No guarantee, but I can't imagine they want a paper trail of a damaged brake fluid reservoir getting sent back on the streets.
So today I pulled out the reservoir far enough to slide it back in with the split plastic pins going in correctly above the metal. Fairly easy, the only hiccup was the single pushpin plastic rivet that holds the reservoir was extremely loose and just slipped out. I fashioned a new pushpin from extras I had from installing new upper side panels. I'll keep an eye on my repair, but feels solid and will pick up the correct push pin soon.
I got the letter too. But I want a new fluid reservoir given the stress marks on my reservoir. I'm hoping that isn't a fight. The part's cheap enough but it will necessitate a bleed.
Hey! I have never dealt with a recall before. From what I read it affects my van for sure if it is a 2016 passenger? How should I proceed to get this resolved/inspected?

I got a letter from M-B informing my vehicle affected by this recall.
I read in the letter there is a VIN based recall lookup tool online which offers a search feature that will indicate whether a vehicle has been subject to a safety recall.

Well I am sorry to report my first dealer snafu -- and it was on the brake fluid reservoir recall. I dropped off the van Thursday morning -- the dealer is super busy doing recalls, so they said they'd need a few days. Anyway, I got a loaner and called yesterday mid-morning to see when it would be ready. My service writer said he had gotten me ahead in the queue and I could get it Friday p.m. By the time they called yesterday afternoon, it was too late to brave Memorial Day traffic so I went down this morning.
I went to the cashier and looked at the paperwork. I'd asked for a parking brake adjustment, which they had noted and said was done ($170 "discounted" from $195, fair enough). As I read further, I saw that neither recall had been done because, in the case of the fluid reservoir, it was "CORRECT," (same for fuel line clamps). Knowing that was INCORRECT as to the fluid reservoir, I insisted on inspecting the van before signing off (hassle #1).
Sadly, they hadn't done the reservoir recall at all. I got the the Saturday service writer (not my regular guy who is great) to come look at it, as he was arguing with me, and he got obnoxious when I asked him to come look at the van with me (intro'd with "with all due respect. . ."), which was both condescending and wrong. I showed him the rattling reservoir and misguided plastic pins. Fortunately he shut up at that point, although I am sure he knows nothing about the issue. I asked if I could speak with a technician, and they told me they only have "oil change guys" on weekends.
Anyway, I am really worried that they gave the same expert attention to the fuel line clamp issue. I took my loaner back and left. They told me to speak with my regular service writer Monday.
I may be too trusting as I have had a good experience with the dealer thus far, but I found it completely shocking that either: They'd fake a safety recall or be too incompetent to understand the issue, and have ZERO quality control over the time-jammed techs. I now regret not requesting my used spark plugs when I had them pulled, and I really don't know enough to double check the fuel line work as I have to believe they faked that too.
Any suggestions? I'd like to come down very hard on them as this could kill someone less fortunate, like calling the D.A. to report an unfair practices claim. Best course of action?
Follow-up. I picked up the van today June 1, just short of a week since I dropped it off. The service writer was a replacement for my usual, and he informed me that they had done no further work, but he agreed to let me speak to the service manager when I arrived. Anyhow, I showed the service manager my fluid reservoir and gave him copies of the pix from the forum! He was very honest and said they had no idea to check for that. He even brought out the factory repair bulletin with the illustrated steps (there were no photos of the reservoir, just basic diagrams). The bulletin vaguely stated to check whether the reservoir might be "incorrectly mounted." It immediately goes on to emphasize the mounting pin in very specific detail. The service manager told me that they were under the impression that the pin was all they had to inspect. Anyway, I thought initially it was dishonesty or incompetence -- turns out it's neither -- it's the same poor factory training that most likely created the problem to begin with. He repaired it in less than 10 minutes.
I would definitely advise a self-inspection after this recall is performed. Mercedes is NOT PROVIDING ADEQUATE TRAINING ON THIS RECALL.
I did prevail on the service manager to provide and install a new reservoir (and flush the brake system). That's on order and scheduled.
