The window control switch on the driver door will not lower or raise the passenger window. driver door window switch operates driver side window normally. The switch on the passenger door works to lower and raise the passenger window. And if using the passenger door switch to lower or raise the passenger window and you push the switch on the driver door it interupts the window motion, so it seems there is still an electrical signal of some sort between the two.

Any idea why driver door control switch would fail to operate the passenger door window?

Hi Did you happen to figure this problem out? I have the same thing. Also I noticed it happened right after I got the interior washed. Which makes me think it's the switch.
Thanks

I'm having the same issue, I can roll the passenger window down but not up from the driver's control. I took it to Pep Boys and they said thenmoter was fine. It worked again for two hours and went out again.

My issue was fixed by replacing the driver door window control unit on the door panel. It comes out pretty easily and I think you can find it online or on ebay at a reasonable price, just unplug and plug in new unit. I had mine replaced by my local service shop during an oil change visit. About $150. They hooked it up to the MB computer thingy and it isolated the problem. There's no guarantee that's your problem though, these MBs are very electrically integrated and some sensor, or computer glitch could cause issues anywhere. Next time I have this issue I'll just start by replacing the unit myself.

Hope this helps!

P.S.

I believe mine started acting up after getting my front windows tinted. The installer likely soaked my window control with soapy solution while applying the tint. Others in this string mentioned theirs went buggy after washing the interior. I'm going to guess these control units are highly moisture sensitive, so beware!!

Thank you for the heads up.

I have seen a few window tinting demonstration videos in the past, and was horrified with a few how much water they used, just running down the interior of the door, without any regard or protection for the electronics.

Hmmm... I was thinking of going through the car wash, but maybe I'll just let the rain do the job. I live on a gravel road so it just gets dirty anyway.

My new to me 2016 just developed the same problem. The drivers side controller allows me to lower the passenger window but not raise it. I did have a rain storm last week and yea maybe some moisture entered the system.

Rain water regularly enters the interior of door panels on cars; they have drains for that reason; usually the electronics that are not watertight (like wires) tend to be shielded from the wet by a vapor barrier (sheet of plastic). A possible cause is your van had that vapor barrier damaged by someone doing a bad job of personal up fitting.

Mine will roll passenger up but not down. If I start the window up or down using passanger control,... the driver control will stop it but no way will it roll it down.

My (2016 cargo) driver's window switch starting acting flakey. It finally died. I hope it's the switch. For $90 with shipping, 447-905-41-03-9051, it's worth it to try replacing myself than hassle with getting to the dealer which is an hour away and then have a transportation issue. (Uber credits don't work; I'm too rural). If it's not the switch, then I'll have to take the day to visit the dealer and hope it's a one day fix, and if not pray they give me enough notice to get a vehicle at Enterprise rental.

They fail often enough that you can get them for $21 on AliExpress, including shipping.

I shoulda read the description closer "Left. Metris. Without power mirrors." Yeah, I have power mirrors. That's not the part # I needed. The image shows mirror adjustments. There's a disclaimer saying the image may look nothing like the part. Sigh. Too much of a hurry

The Ali Express listing has a photo. Maybe it will be the right part.

I tried again with "205-905-69-11-9051" it's got the description : "C-Class, Metris: without power folding mirrors"

Just to finish out the saga. The "205-905-69-11-9051" with description : "C-Class, Metris: without power folding mirrors" arrived. It took under a minute to pull up the trim, pop out the switch assembly, unplug the electric cable. It took even less time to snap everything back together. No tools required!

Best of all, it works.

I disassembled the old one:

Circuit component Finger Engineering Passive circuit component Electronic engineering

and got a little annoyed with myself and a lot annoyed with Mercedes.

First with myself for not realizing how simple it was to remove. If I'd known, I'd have disassembled it earlier! These types of rubber switches with carbonized tips to short contacts on a PC board suck, but they can usually be coaxed to work a few more times. That would have saved the van just sitting in the garage with the window down waiting for parts.

Secondly, I'm annoyed at Mercedes. This type of button is stupidly unreliable with a short life time. TV remote controls use them a lot, and they fail often. For as long as I owned by DirecTV satellite dish, I'd order a two-pack of remote controls from Amazon pretty much annually because the 'skip forward 30 seconds" button would wear out. Same rubber membrane technology as above.

But, I'm back on the road.

Until the next issue. I love driving the van. But, it's the least reliable vehicle I've ever owned.

Sorry for your grief, but if the MB switch is that bad, maybe the $21 Ali version isn't much worse. The P/N on the ali listing is different, but still returns as a "switch block" for $97 at my preferred parts source. And unlike almost every other part on Metris, there's no MB logo on the switch so no one but you will ever know! :D
