Hello everyone,

I was advised today that Reimo had made a little video of the version of the Vito Trio Style camper van, this is the camper van that I have been working with the folks in Germany to offer a version for North America.

The video shows a few of the features of the conversion, please remember that for this unit ,they created the conversion on the passenger van, there was nothing else available on short notice and this was the only van they were able to get a hold of. The actual camper will be based on the cargo version and so will not have some of the factory trimming we see in the video.

We are still in discussion with MB because of the back window and the hatch version, I wont go into this here, but lets just say you cant actually place the order the way you want it, so we may create the first US /Canadian version with Barn doors (not happy about this, but eventually you have to move thing along)

Looking forward to reading your comments on the camper

Best Regards

Love the rear passenger seats and it's ability to slide around. I originally thought that it was stuck in one position. Do they plan to use the extending roof as an extra bed?

Hello there,

Yes the elevating roof has the option of being an extra bed, exactly as the westfalia's . Or you can simpy have this as additional headroom.

I am looking at offering this vehicle without the pop roof as well, hopefully within a few weeks I should have at least 4 versions of a camper/surf van sorted out for offer, they will all be based on the same thing just "standard" variations of what will be offered.

thank you for your interest

Hi Guys

The conversion is still on going, Reimo in Germany is having some delivery issues with certain parts.

But things are progressing on other fronts as well, we have a bunch of new product coming in from the UK,and I leave once again for Germany in mid February to visit with suppliers.

Once I get back from Germany I should have a better idea how the conversion and deliveries will be progressing.

Thanks

Hi Guys

Sorry I keep forgetting to post up here as well.

The conversion is still rolling along, we have started to get quite a few of the parts we need from our suppliers and the first ever pop up roof for North America will be in Montreal by the 7th of april.

Once this arrives and gets through customs ect we will start the process of getting the roof prepared and painted, scheduling in the roof cut and getting this installed,This parts is really important as we need to document and present this to Mercedes Benz as well as have them over to view the finish work in order to become certified to perform this modification.

As well, this past week the seat and rail system you saw on the video was tested by the TUV as installed on the VITO, so we now have this system approved for installation on this chassis type. Our initial seat and rail order is now in production and this will now be the second installation of the seat/rail system in the world on the W447 chassis once complete.

Our goal is still to have a finalised ,marketable product, approved and available for sale towards the end of the summer.

If you have any questions, please let me know directly

Hi Reimo!

I am in Denver, CO and am very interested in getting the passenger van version of the metris in this configuration. I was just at MB of Littleton asking questions and taking a test drive. Please let me know when I can place an order! Should I PM you my contact information? Is there a website I can review and contact your company?

Hi There

The entire camper will be under 2M high making it very garagable( A little over 6ft) the complete roof once installed is only a few inches taller than the original roof. IN europe the 2 Meter hight is critical in order to get these types of vehicles into underground parking structures ect, in many cases you will not even be allowed into a simple parking lot with any hightop van.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

You can always email me directly as well from the websites

Best Regards

Hello Spencer

We are waiting for the OK from Mercedes Benz about putting a pop top such as the Reimo unit on a passenger version van(its Ok to use the Cargo version, and that is what we are starting with).

If the goal is have it on a passenger version, please get in touch with me directly through the websites or at [email protected] and we can discuss what the final product you are after will look like.

Links to the websites should be just below my signature

I look forward to hearing from you

Best Regards

I am very interested as well. Any idea on what the pricing might be and how long a fitout would take? Also, what would the process be (e.g. we buy a van and bring it/ship it to you for fitout?)? I will be in the market most likely Jan/Feb of next year looking to use it in the Spring/Summer.

For what its worth I kind of like the rear barn doors, but wondering do they fold to the side like a Sprinter van? With a big screen in the back I could see it being an ok alternative to leaving the hatch (or rear window) open on the struts for long periods (e.g. during the day/night while camped).

I would be hoping to have (in addition to the pop-up roof):
- Similar layout to Vanagon or Marco Polo
- Swivel front seats
- Table. Love the Marco Polo sliding table design.
- Screens for side door and rear - I have seen pics of these kits on the Metris
- Fridge - I like the Marco Polo but would also be ok with that space open for an ARB or Engle style top loading fridge - pre-wired
- Rear seats - The Marco Polo seats are a bit too fancy for me. I like how they slide forward for more storage (especially like the rear deck that lifts up for storage) but the electric part worries me. I would prefer a manual track
- Roof - Manual would be fine for me but if electric thats not a deal breaker
- Shore power - being able to plug in power would be great. City water plug in would be great but not essential
- Stove top - Depending on how the power/inverter works... I wouldnt mind an option for no stove but be able to use a portable induction stove top. I think you would need 110AC for this so it might need an inverter and potentially turn the engine on? Regardless I think a portable stove using propane cans vs a built in propane would be a nice option for more counter space, cooking outside and no need to run a propane tank with the complexities of that... however that leads to another question is there hot water? If so assuming propane? I would like to have a simple setup with no propane if possible.
- Water tank - 10 plus gallons? Mounted tank? Where would the tank be mounted? Under the van or inside?
- Grey water - how will the grey water work? Portable jerry can style or a mounted tank?
- Porta potti - I would most likely add similar to what some VW owners do (behind the front pass. seat with a cover for use as an ottomon when the pass. seat is swiveled to the rear).
- Rear Shower - Would be nice to have a rear shower similar to the Marco Polo. It would be cool to have a slide out shower curtain ring at the top for use with the rear barn doors open. Also would be cool to have a removable luggage tray from behind the rear seats that could also serve as an outside shower floor. However, all of this isn't essential but the shower would be nice for washing down boots, feet, fly fishing gear, etc.

Sorry for the long post... it got a bit longer once I started writing it with questions, etc. Anyway, super excited you are taking on the project. It will be awesome to be able to buy one of these.

Top Conversions !!

Has anybody contacted Mercedes about warranty becoming void when a hole is cut through the roof? I was told that Mercedes is working with a couple of U.S. companies that handle Sprinter conversions but are waiting on their blessing for Metris conversions.
