2016 Metris Passenger Recall for Tires and Battery Cover- 8/14/2024 Arrived at 8:30am for Tires, Battery Cover and Alignment that was not done correct on my prior visit which tech stated in paperwork that he was not able to get the steering wheel straight. Service advisor told me it should be done by 3 or 4pm. As we know Mercedes doesn't offer loaners for Metris/Sprinters. I waited until about 3pm when my advisor comes to tell me it's ready. I of course had a window seat right in front of the alignment machine and could see they were having issue aligning my van as it was taken for multiple rides by the techs and put up on the rack a few times. I got my keys and started on my way home. Got on the main road and the wheel was straight but the van was pulling hard to the right. I turned back around and then explained to them the issue. The advisor took the van for a ride and then back to the alignment rack again. This time the advisor comes back and tells me it's to spec and that this van must have something bent or it's been in an accident. I told them I am the original owner and it has not been in any accidents or hit anything. Waited until 5:45pm and was told they finally got it aligned. Got on the road again wheel was straight and van was going straight. About half way home my check engine and ABS light lit up. I was not happy and of course they care closed now and unable to call anyone. I drove home slowly and wrote a nice email so the advisor will see it in the morning. Also when I got home both sliding doors would not open via button or by handle. I wrote the email and explained everything and wanted it fixed. I explained to him that maybe the doors are not working due to the speed sensor not working properly. My thinking is that the van doesn't know it is in park and is not allowing the doors to work. His response was that the doors have nothing do with that sensor and that they will send valet to pick up my van and leave me a loaner with all labor, parts and loaner covered by dealer. They took my van and left me a new 2024 GLB250. Monday morning 8/19 I get an email that my van is ready for pickup and that they replaced a speed sensor and after the replacement the doors started working again. I left the dealer with 5 new Continental tires. 235/55R-17 103H,new speed sensor and alignment job. I can definitely feel the difference with the wider tires and heavier load sidewalls. Told the advisor "No disrespect but I hope we don't see each other anytime soon" we both chuckled.
