I received the Mercedes-Benz Cavity Sealant and Seam Sealant the other day. The cavity sealant (or cavity wax) is the beige "grease" many of us (perhaps cold weather pkg?) have on the inner side of the exterior sheet metal between the bottom seam and about a foot or so above. Anyway, as I went paranoid over possible sheet metal filings in that space after my FW642L window install, I decided to remove the wax and insulating bags so I could clean and refresh the wax.

I was pleased to see the wax is "solvent free" which I assume means volatile solvent free.

Incidentally, as I've examined the cargo van more closely, I notice many spots where they use the cavity wax and bags, including some points up at or near the ceiling. I think it will come in handy during routine inspections and maintenance.

MB has been using that stuff for decades on their vehicles. It works very well!
