Does any one know how to remove the “ventilation scoop” that’s on the the side of the vehicle just above where the trailer hitch wire harness goes in under the bumper cover? Without breaking it! In the process of installing OEM hitch.
The vent has little tabs on the top and bottom.

Here's the view from inside:

While pulling on the vent I used a long screwdriver to push up the lower tabs. Once the bottom edge is released, the vent comes right out.

I wrapped tape around the screwdriver tip to avoid marring the plastic.

So that's where all the dust comes from! Does anyone know whether it would be safe to cover it over?

Thank you very much! I will work on that today. Unfortunately, I have inside wall coverings and could not see behind them at this time. At this time I have no intention of installing the controller unit, but I did want to run the wire harness well I had the bumper cover off. Again… Thank you! (Pictures were great)

The vent flaps seal shut under the slightest positive pressure from outside.

If you cover them, it will probably get stuffier and your doors may be harder to shut. The vents are already too small for the tailgate to close and latch easily.
