Wow! $6000 in less than 100,000 miles, that is horrible. I've not spent that much on my BMW with 357,000 miles on it. I love my van, but If this thing becomes a maintenance hog it will get traded.
I had the same reaction to reading that. [I too really like driving this van as well.]
I
thought that one primary reason to buy a new vehicle is to get low maintenance/repair costs and peace of mind during the first 100k miles.
One question I've been planning to pose to MB dealers is: How much money do you expect to get from me over the course of ownership of a new Metris?
If I can drive away with a reasonably equipped [cargo] van for $40k, how much more money do they
expect to get from me over the lifespan (which I assume is 120k miles since that's as high as their warranty goes)?
Also, I don't think about the ELW as
saving me money. It's the warranty that should have been included with the vehicle from the start, with a higher sticker price of course. Actually, it's not even the warranty that should be included...
If the IRS gives $0.59/mile for business use of a vehicle, we're well over that with the Metris in any configuration.
