Hi folks, new here with a 2019 cargo Metris. I have a problem with one of the rear barn doors's cam locks (that keeps the door open) being very hard to release - it makes a loud screeching sound and I have to put too much pressure on the door to release it from the open position. I am considering adding some lubrication to the cam lock mechanism, some choices:

1. WD-40 Specialist Dirt & Dust Resistant Dry Lube PTFE Spray
2. WD40 Company 300012 Specialist Silicone Spray Smart Straw
3. Ballistol Sportsman Oil
4. Something else?

Which one would you recommend? Is this a bad idea? Will it make the door close with a slight wind blow?

Thank you!

Not sure what would work best for your doors, but for my 2017 cargo, the door mechanism is one of the weakest features on the van. If the wind blows even 5-10 mph, and if the doors are just open to 90 degrees, they will swing shut on their own. I am glad I have the 270 doors which lock in place with the magnets as I use my van for windsurfing and really need the doors to be stable when unloading and loading.

It's just a steel catch the nylon rod slips into. If it's off spec one could certainly pry it open a little more. I'd try a little lithium grease first. Like Walstib, my doors blow closed to easily.

Thank you -- AGS Door-ease sounds like a good safe choice for plastic part involved in this scenario.

PS: I also have the 270 swing door option but find myself not using it much due to having the sliders open all the time

Yea, on windy days the 90 degree position will 'release' them and try to close on you if the wind direction is right.
