2018 Benz Metris sliding door problem

326 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  KOAMastermind
Vehicle throws a code for B21222A and it reads:
"Right electric sliding door: No feedback was received from 'Closing assist'. There is no signal change"

The door will open automatically just fine but when it comes to closing it starts but gets stuck halfway. I checked the tracks for obstructions but nothing. Could the spooling motor be going bad?

Thanks in advance!

What sort of vehicle do you own?
It's a passenger van 2018 Mercedes Metris.
The other threads in this forum on this topic mention that it can be the motor failing or sensors having trouble due to dirty track. You may not have obstructions, but you may have a dirty track.

I'll clean the tracks and see if that helps. The motor would be inside near the rear vent/blower motor right?
Cleaning the tracks did not help at all, still get stuck. Although i did nothing the switch was getting stuck (close/open button) so i cleaned that but to no avail. ill next check the motor
Out of curiosity, how will you check the motor? I mean what will you look for to tell you the issue is the motor? These units are not cheap.
These doors are complicated. Perhaps check the actual latch of the door at the rear of the door first. I believe that mechanism pulls the door all the way closed after the motor and cables slide it there.

I was going to visually inspect the unit. Nothing to be seen that's out of place, i also saw that they were a pretty penny.
